My PlayVital Beyond Grip case review

Today I received my PlayVital “Beyond Grip” case. First impressions are, it’s nice. The quality of the case itself is flexible enough to easily put onto the Switch 2, but also rigid enough to still feel like it’s of good quality.

The unique aspect to it, is that it has the two different grips that you can slide on and off of it. There is a smoother, less raised one and then one that mimics more of a DBrand Kill Switch style “trigger” grip. After holding it for a little bit I prefer the less raised grip, but that’s just me. The quality of the grips is also good, they are hollow and just plastic with some texture on the outside. I’ve included a picture of each grip. If the case was to fall I could see them exploding off or breaking, but they feel sturdy and solid enough to make holding the console more comfortable.

Something worth mentioning is that the Joycons are not removable with this case and the kickstand is not accessible. There’s case was clearly advertised that way, so I’m not complaining about that, but I know that’s something people would want to know.

One big component for me is that the case is dockable. After putting it on and sliding it onto the dock – it’s easily dockable. There’s a little more resistance than it would have without a case, but not enough to where you would feel uneasy about putting it in the dock.

All of the cuts and buttons on the case are also lined up well.

Overall, I’d say it definitely feels like more of a grip than a protective case, but it does feel like it adds some protection. I like it, but I’m not sure if it will be the case I stick with.

I’d give it a like a 7.8/10.

If you can get it on sale for $20, I’d say it’s definitely worth it. For the regular price of $27.99, it’s still a good price, but I’d imagine it will go on sale fairly often.
