  1. I didn’t bite yet. I still have three Pro Controllers that work just fine. One is the Smash edition and if they do a limited edition again for a big game (Metroid Prime 4?) I’ll likely buy that one.

  2. ProstheticSoulX

I love the new pro controller. Did I need it? No. Am I glad I bought one anyway? Absolutely!

  3. RockmanVolnutt

I’m still waiting. I’ve got an original pro that works great, though I’d like the extra rear buttons. I’m just sad it’s not translucent like the original, otherwise I’d have bought it.

  4. Legal_Landscape_3152

It’s a nice controller, but I only bought it because my switch1 pro controller would not wake the switch 2.

  5. It’s a nice enough controller but I find something about it uncomfortable after a few minutes. I don’t remember having that problem with the Switch 1 pro controller, and as far as I can tell they haven’t really changed the shape, so I’m not sure why that is.

The fact that it comes with back paddles, and that every game let’s you program what those paddles do individually is such a better solution than saving 3 profiles to the controller.

Name a cheaper controller that supports linear-motor-rumble, gyro and has grip buttons.

If you take out one of those three you will always find a cheaper controller that also does some things better than the switch 2 pro controller. But if you want all three I haven’t found one yet

(No grip buttons? DualSense or switch 2 pro controller. No gyro? Most third party Microsoft DirectInput controllers. No linear rumble? 8-bit-do controllers)

Some of these will then also be missing other features the switch 2 procon has, like the headphone jack or NFC support, but those are kinda just nice to haves and especially NFC usually isn’t a selling point for a controller.

I do think the price of the controller is kinda expensive and could be around $5 cheaper (ignoring the other around 5$ that are currently just on there because of the tariffs which would mean $10 leas expensive total) but honestly it isn’t bad value for the money, especially once it gets a PC driver (which I am sure valve is already working on.)

  8. I am waiting for a nice special edition, I’m sure its a great controller but the weird light gray really doesnt do it for me. Hoping for a Legends ZA one, hell a third party one styled after Elden Ring or FF7 would really rule.

  9. Grookeyking

Got mine on release and really like it so far. The back buttons are very useful for me. The OG might be a bit more comfortable in my hand but not by much. Both are still better than the Xbox one controller imo.

  10. monkey484

I grabbed one and I’m glad I did. It might be my current favorite overall controller. I have one OG Pro controller, and it’s great too. But IMO the 2 is much more comfortable, and has some of the best sticks I’ve ever used.

I originally said I could not see myself getting one and that I could not see the real value in its upgrades and price, but after playing with it in Walmart I will partially retract that statement and admit I was somewhat wrong. It physically feels like a large improvement and that is what I love most about it, but in my experience it plays about the same.

  12. It’s an incredible controller, imo it’s leagues better than Xbox or PS controllers for the battery life alone.

  13. External_Key_4108

I love the Switch 2 Pro Controller honestly. Probably my favorite controller of all time, it feels so good

  14. I plan on getting the 8bitdo receiver to use my Xbox controller once I get the Satisfye grips and opt to never remove them.

  15. TheGreatBenjie

It’s a direct improvement on the first one which was already a top tier controller…

    Who is surprised by this?

  16. SpriteyRedux

$85 is dinner and drinks, or a game controller you’ll use for 5-20 years. People have a really weird sense of value proposition when it comes to video games vs. essentially anything else

  17. TheLimeyLemmon

After how well the Pro controller on Switch served me for so many years, I picked one up launch day no question.

Steep price, but an amazing controller I’ll be using for the next decade. It’s everything I love but better, especially the face buttons, that are more shallow and similar to the SNES.

  18. LunarWingCloud

I got one at work today with my employee discount.

    Feels really nice.

  19. SharpEdgeSoda

My costco doesn’t sell the console, but it sold these controllers by the dozen. I watched the display where you pick out a card to get one from the front just vanish.

  20. Wander715

I’ll get one later this year when I actually get a Switch 2. If this thing already had official Steam support I’d probably buy one immediately tbh.

  21. TheHahndude

I have quite a few different controllers across various systems, including several premium ones and I can say with near 100% confidence that the Switch 2 Pro Controller is THE BEST controller you can buy.

  22. mrmastermimi

the sticks on the new controller feel amazing. like, genuinely the best joysticks I’ve ever felt. they are so smooth and fluid. def worth the price alone. I don’t even use the back buttons.

  23. workoutnerd

Got it strictly for the aux port, much needed

  24. I’d argue it’s the best feeling controller of all time. Did I need to buy one not really considering I had 2 s1 pro’s. Was it worth it? 100%

  25. Stebsy1234

I love the controller but don’t really like the back paddles they just feel awkward to use.

  26. CorbinTheTitan

I’d get one but I have like 3 switch 1 pro controllers, so I’m going to wait for a special edition

  27. DueManufacturer4330

I bought 8bitdo Ultimate C and Mobapad N1 HD for less than the price of 1 Switch 2 controller. Prefer both over it. the Mobapad will wake it, 8bitdo will not.

  28. NakiCoTony

After getting a ps5 controller everything feels like a downgrade

  29. Yep, it was hard to find on release week, only 1 target a handful

  30. IrishPigskin

I love how everyone on Reddit complains about how everything is too expensive, the economy sucks, and people are barely surviving.

Then a post of reality like this comes to slap them in the face.

  31. AA_ZoeyFn

I mean to be fair it’s one of the nicest controllers I’ve ever used and I’ve had a LOT in my day.

  32. GarionOrb

The Pro controller is one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used. It feels significantly better than the Switch 1 version, and the battery lasts forever as well.

  33. Parallax2814

I’d get it to replace my original Switch Pro Controller, but I really don’t like the white/grey on it. I’d prefer it to be all black.

  34. BeerGogglesFTW

I’ll stick with my 8bitdo Ultimate 2 that goes on sale for like $50.

Tbh, I also have 2 of the 8bitdo 2C controllers. Those were supposed to be my $20 “Guest controllers” but those are my girlfriend’s preferred controllers (mostly because of the lighter weight). She prefers those over the Ultimate 2 and Nintendo Pro (1) controller.

I might buy her this controller as part of a birthday present because it’s an in-between weight. But I know she wants a controller that can wake up the Switch 2. That is currently the main selling point of this $85 controller, and it seems like a completely manufactured problem.

  35. I mean, we’re all easy marks. its no wonder we continue to slide down into this hellscape, no one can self-regulate their consumerism

  36. VigorousReddit

It’s a nice controller but $85 is so hard to justify when 8bitdo exists

  37. letmesleep

I never used just one joycon for the Switch, so I just bit the bullet and got two pro controllers for the Switch 2 at launch. Such a quality of life upgrade.

  38. minigibby2212

I really enjoy the switch 2 pro controller. It just feels very nice to use.

  39. roccerfeller

I got one. I really like it. One of my top game controllers

  40. All that hand-wringing over the prices was AstroTurf.
