I haven’t played a proper Pokemon game since yellow, is this a good one to jump back into? I do play a ton of ancillary games (tcg, TCGP, go) so I feel like I know a lot of the Pokemon already

Honestly, I think Pokemon Snap XXX is the best game in the series. I have yet to play a Pokemon game that tops it.

I enjoyed Arceus but I liked both SWSH and SV more. I like to get my Pokemon perfect and that is harder in Arceus if you want the right nature.

I’m looking forward to playing Z-A though.

Pokemon Legends Arceus is a good game, and im glad the legends games seem to be going strong, but to me its not really a replacement for the original.
I still feel like we haven’t really pushed past black2white2 after the transition to 3d. I think the core games need to catch up to the modern world with a big leap in quality.
I like having side games and other ways to explore the pokemon world and universe, but I really hope they improve the core.

I miss the days of the gba ds where there were lots of side experiments and games like colossuem, and ranger alongside strong mainline titles like emerald, platinum, and b2w2.

I’ll wait for the reviews from others. I get the feeling early hands on are for the fans. I really want to like this one but honestly I’ve not enjoyed the series since it went to the third dimension

  6. I’m cautious about Z-A. Swore I wouldn’t get a sequel unless they made drastic improvements from Arceus. I’ve seen things I like but also things that puts me on guard. I’ll likely only buy the game a few days after release to see if it’s worth it.

Still have a Switch 1 voucher. If Metroid Prime 4 isn’t eligible I’ll likely get Z-A before the voucher expires.

  7. I’ve been a massive fan of the all the pokemon games on switch…putting hundreds of hours on each. but this game just doesn’t look that great to me. I’m waiting for reviews. First time I haven’t been excited for a pokemon game on switch 🙁

For myself if I’m able to catch all Pokemon in that game’s dex without any trading gimmicks I’m happy.

I love the Switch Pokémon era, but this game look extremely boring.

I’m genuinely looking forward to it, i just hope they nail the city aesthetic more than we’ve seen so far, Pokemon Heroes is the movie I think of when I think Pokemon + City and I hope we see more stuff like that.

It could be the best work of all time, in 2025, that wouldn’t be enough to justify buying such an expensive console with such a poor catalog.

And it’s far from being a very good game. For starters, it’s ugly. It’s tiring that Pokémon is synonymous with ugliness, when other titles prove the opposite (Mystery Dungeon DX, New Snap). Furthermore, I’ve never been able to finish 100% of it, or even the main story of Arceus. So I have serious doubts about Z-A.

I wanted to play Violet again, but it’s impossible, it’s too lame. It’s a far cry from the days of FireRed, which I replayed dozens of times.

So if Z-A is a game I’d only play once to fulfill my “duty” as a Pokémaniac, it’s not worth it.

And at the end of the summer, the Switch 2 still doesn’t have a good catalog. MK World seems to already be a dead game (it got the AC New Horizons treatment from Nintendo) and DK Bananza is mixed.
