Time to get over it tbh. It’s gonna be keycards pretty much from now on

  2. Adamaneve

    I’m shocked. Shocked!

    Well, not that shocked.

  3. FayeChan350259

    It is to be expected.

Welp, gonna save up for a 1TB MicroSD Express card.

  4. Considering that most games get DLC nowadays, it barely even matters anymore. Would just be nice if we had actually bigger SD cards.

  5. Entire-Assistance842

Just go all digital and stop going through all this drama every.single.time.

Cause it’s just gonna get more common, not less.

  6. I picked up a 512 GB Express card the other week. I considered waiting for 1TB cards from Samsung or SanDisk, but these will probably be expensive at first. The 512 GB SanDisk card cost me 100 euros, which is the same price I paid for the old 512 GB MicroSD card in 2019. I think at least the 512 GB ones will eventually be fairly affordable.

  7. I mean can the game even fit on 64GB ?

I mean, I have two blu-rays for my PS4 version…I don’t see how that would work here without doing some pretty lossy compressions

  8. Worlds_Between_Links

I mean it is like 90 gigabytes, it physically does not fit on a full gamecard (of course they could use compression in some parts but yeah it’s not an easy fix)

  9. TheOtherWhiteCastle

Square Enix making annoying game distribution decisions? Say it isn’t so!

  10. zebrasmack

So digital only then. No thanks, I’ll pass on it. Physical only for me.

Not shocked but will this game be heavy on space

  12. It’s gonna be a $40 game, no way Square would pay ~$15 for the cart alone and not charge at least $60

Also the eShop is listing it as 87.8 GBs, it would need two carts, or some serious pairing back in asset quality

  13. Neospartan_117

Even if the game could fit in the regular card, I’d expect Square to use keycards instead. No surprises here.

  14. I mean they don’t make carts big enough to contain it so yeah, duh…

Reaffirming that most games will be bought in the following order
    1. Steam
    2. PS5 Pro
    3. Switch

There’s absolutely no good reason to buy non-exclusives on switch unfortunately.

  16. If the games are not on cartridge Nintendo should have provided more storage.

  17. Thoraxekicksazz

The keycard situation is making the S2 a regret purchase. As a physical collector I refuse to spend a single dollar on a keycard.

  18. Marco__Island

It’s going to be a long generation for those of you who refuse to purchase digital software and are anti game key cards.

  19. RunnyElephantFourty4

These are the games that need to be on it they are too big even if its part of the game

  20. PPMD_IS_BACK

People shitting on them for game keycards. Bro the game is big.

  21. thickwonga

Games like this is what Key Cards are for. I wouldn’t buy this on Switch 2 anyway, since I have it on PS5, but I never expected this to have a real physical release.

Sonic X Shadow Gens? Fuck off, that can absolutely fit on a cart.

Game cards cannot handle higher ends games like Star Wars Outlaws, but then look at what cyberpunk did. I think that if developers start working on switch 2 at the onset, then game can be tailored to the platform more easily without making so many compromises.

  23. I’m so glad I joined r/nintendoswitch just to read about GKC everyday. It’s so cool.

  24. Aerisskyritalee

As a Game Collector Square wont be getting my money for it, i want physical only, lol, means more of my money goes to companys who provide me physical games, lol

  25. InitRanger

Since the game uses Unreal Engine it could be because of asset streaming issues but like what the Outlaws devs described.

  26. Don’t think they had much of a choice with this one

  27. SmooshedLion

The anti GKC folks are going to be missing out on just about everything. Interesting hill to die on

  28. Mystic1217

Its shockingly ONLY 40$ and comes with a pack of f*cking mtg cards. Then digital it comes with a copy of the OG FF7. Its a shockingly great deal especially next to like 50$ Kirby amiibo.

  29. Mental-Lake-9517

Could they have not just filled one card and had a download? Better than nothing. Switch 2 doesn’t have the memory for this shit!!

  30. The_Pepper_Oni

Of course it is. Did you want it on two game cards?

  31. SanneFlower

I wonder if The Adventures of Elliot will be a GKC…if so…FUCK square 😀

  32. rand_althor

Wow, a preorder bonus on it from there is an M:tG FF booster pack.

  33. Secret_Association58

This is one of the few exceptions where it actually makes sense

  34. EpicFusion47

This is an okay key card: i may pick it up but actual games sub like 70gb on keycards I will never buy
