I've seen a few posts here and elsewhere looking for cases for the Nintendo Switch 2 like the Nintendo Switch Lite Flip Case or its larger-size cousins, the Genki Force Field OLED or the ProCase OLED. I'm in the same boat and pre-ordered the Force Field 2 from Genki, but found it made a lot of sacrifices in order to fit in the dock and allow removing the Joycons, neither of which were features that I was particularly looking for as someone who primarily plays handheld and already has accessible usb-c charging elsewhere. I found an AliExpress listing for a "Flap leather Dockable CASE for Nintendo Switch 2 NS2 (2025) Foldable Joycon Ergonomic Holder Dockable Integrated Cover Case" (link, unaffiliated), which had no reviews at the time and cost 20 USD more than the Force Field 2, but it looked close to the ideal, so I decided to take the plunge. It took a week to ship and it just arrived in a heavily squashed nondescript box packaged in a grey bag with bubble wrap.
Having it in person, it's fine. This is almost exactly what I wanted. The grips around the Joycons are larger and the kickstand is independent of the console, but it otherwise feels like the Force Field OLED with worse materials, as expected.
Gripes:
- I didn't notice this when buying it but the product page says there's a "dockable feature" and I don't know what they could possibly by that because no way this fits in the dock even with the front cover off. The Force Field OLED (which I own) didn't fit in the Switch 1 dock and as mentioned I wasn't looking for a dockable case, so I'm not that bent out of shape about it, but why advertise something that's obviously not true?
- The kickstand feels really stiff, and doesn't seem to have as much range as the console kickstand. One thing I liked about the Force Field OLED and the Force Field 2 is that they just use the Switch/Switch 2's kickstand. I should also note that because there's no kickstand cutout, you have to take the case off to access the MicroSD Express card.
- The magnetic closure keeps the cover closed well enough when pulling outward from the screen, but the cover can shift upwards easily when pressing upwards towards the power button.
- The unit doesn't lie flat. Because the grips are larger, the cover flap no longer contacts the ground normally. The unit's a bit top heavy, so it leans backwards (away from you) to rest on the flap.
- The speaker cutouts are smaller than the speaker cutouts on the console. Sound seems fine, but still.
