The buzz about Death Stranding possibly coming to Switch 2 has me intrigued. Nash Weedle, who’s been right about Nintendo leaks before, claims the announcement could happen at TGS 2025. If true, this would be a big win for Nintendo, especially since the first Death Stranding was a PlayStation and PC exclusive.
But let’s be real: this is not an easy game to port. The Decima Engine is gorgeous but demanding, and a lot of its impact comes from the sense of scale, weather effects, and detail in the environments. I can’t imagine that transferring perfectly to handheld hardware without sacrifices.
At the same time, Switch 2 is clearly more capable than the original Switch — so maybe with tweaks, it could pull it off. I guess the real question is: would you prefer a version with heavy downgrades but fully native, or would you rather see a cloud-based solution that keeps the visuals intact but loses portability offline?
Curious to hear your thoughts. Could this be one of those ports that surprises us (like The Witcher 3 on Switch 1), or is this a bridge too far?
