So my understanding is Nintendo has never been against their games being used for this sort of event (I mean gdq uses Nintendo games for large portions of its events twice a year)

But they want people to ask first (likely so they can be sure their games arent being used for a cause they disagree with) which doesnt seem like an unreasonable stance imo

I remember the news at the time and the hate brigade ignoring the part where the organizers simply had to request permission. One more overblown thing to the pile I suppose and a reminder to wait before picking the pitchforks.

  3. I wonder if they had to file a request for each individual game, or if they have general permission from now on. Japanese copyright laws are something else.

They just had to ask permission. Exact same as if you wanted to play music somewhere. No clue why people are getting so mad. It’s to make sure people arent using their games in ways they oppose of.

  5. It was only last week here you had people saying Nintendo weren’t aggressive with their IPs.

Just another typical Automaton nothingburger article. They don’t even bother to ask why these old Nintendo games were licensed.
