TL;DR: If you pick up the Switch 2 with one hand while using the Skull & Co. Fission Grip, the grip (and potentially the controller) detaches because the fit is so loose. When I reported this, support told me I was using it wrong. If you want the full details on their arrogant response, keep reading.
Hey everyone,
I normally don’t post these types of things, but I felt the need to share this info with the community. When the whole Dbrand situation popped up, it was actually via a Reddit post that I decided not to go through with my purchase, so I want to return the favor and hopefully save some of you the headache I’m currently dealing with.
I recently bought the Skull & Co. Fission Grip (Split Protective Case) for the Nintendo Switch 2 via Amazon, and the experience has been incredibly frustrating—not just because of the product, but because of the company's response.
The Product Issue
The grip sections do not fit securely. The case is actually coming off the console rather than just being a little loose. This poses a real risk to the integrity of the Switch 2, as the separated controllers could easily drop. My package was also missing the adhesive tabs that are typically included (or so I thought) to help secure the fit.
Regarding the footage/GIF: If I attach a GIF or video, the movement might look slightly exaggerated to demonstrate the flaw, but I assure you I could easily recreate this issue without much effort at all. It feels unsafe to hold.
The "Support" Experience
I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt. I assumed it was a production tolerance issue or a bad batch. I reached out to Skull & Co. Support asking for the adhesive tabs, thinking they were missing or would solve the loose fit. I sent them multiple videos and photos showing the problem.
Their response was arrogant and completely dismissive. Instead of offering a replacement or a fix, they blamed me.
- They verified my unit: They made me verify my Switch 2 was an original unit (it is).
- They blamed my "Improper Usage": They claimed the separation was my fault. They explicitly said that picking up the Switch with one hand amounts to "forcefully prying it back" and stated, "Your improper usage can cause this situation." Apparently, holding a portable console with one hand is now considered prying?
- Denied a simple fix: Despite me asking for adhesive tabs to salvage the purchase, they bluntly stated, "We have not provide stickers to secure separate cases."
- The "Solution": Their final advice was essentially to spend more money. They recommended I choose a one-piece case instead and doubled down, claiming, "There's nothing wrong with the Switch 2 and the Fissiongrip case itself."
Conclusion
I honestly thought the situation couldn't get worse than a case that falls off, but being told that the issue is my fault for "improper usage" because I picked up the console with one hand takes the cake.
I was ready to accept a production error, but their arrogance in refusing to acknowledge the poor fit is what led me to make this post. The support team essentially passed the blame onto me for a clear product design flaw.
Final Advice: Do not buy the Fission Grip. Save your money and your frustration.video 1
