One of the most boring games I’ve ever played sadly

  3. Finished this today; what a giant disappointment.

  4. MrBKainXTR

I haven’t gotten a chance to play much so far but am enjoying the Switch one version.

  5. BeefThief

Fantastic game so far. Yes, it has its problems, but I’m really enjoying it.

Everything about this game just feels okay. Visually looks pretty nice at times. The biomes are alright. The NPCs and dialogue are bad. But it all just feels so empty. I swear I’m not trying to discount the devs but how did this game take so long to make?

Huge fan of prime 1 and 2 growing up.

I think the best way to describe Prime 4 is “aggressively mediocre.” 60 percent of the game is just OK. 10 percent of the game is up to the standard of prime 1 and 2. And that last 30 percent (looking at you, federation tagalongs) is just wowie zowie how did this design choice even get made.

Also, this game has way too much telling me the story instead of showing me the story. And don’t worry, if you missed some finer point mackenzie or the recordings from that last surviving alien will be sure to hit you over the head with it a billion times.

The levels are also waaaay too linear, and the pickups are too easy to find.

The localization for the federation troops was totally off. Besides the corporal they are all come off as mentally 12 years old.

This game is essentially metroid prime for little kids.

    I still liked it…. kinda.

I beat it last night (Switch 2 version). I enjoyed it quite a bit. However, for the wait, it’s not as good as I was hoping. I actually bought a Switch 1 because of the Prime 4 announcement way back in 2016/2017. I loved Prime 1 & 2. I never played 3 because I never had a Wii.

One issue that isn’t a spoiler is the NPCs. I think they take away from the feeling of isolation and fear of the unknown that Metroid games are famous for. Knowing that Samus has friends to rely on take that away.

My next big issue is a potential spoiler so:

    >!My main other issue is that there’s really nothing to do with metroids in the game besides a passing mention that metroids fuse with the bosses etc.!<

  9. No-Honeydew9129

This game really disappointed me. Worst prime game

  10. jables824

Will I enjoy this game if I have never played a Metroid game?

  11. Supreme Prime lover here. It exceeded my expectations. Ignore the haters, they are exhausting.

  12. LizardsoftheGhost

Awful game. Save your money, go play Prime remastered or Dread

  13. watching_sisyphus

Been having too much fun on Kirby so I haven’t started Metroid yet

  14. lolkoala67

Even if this game isn’t perfect it has consistently breath taking moment and I refuse to believe the haters who don’t acknowledge this. The music and some of the set pieces are wild

  15. zetcetera

It’s hard not to be disappointed in this game, however I’m still glad to be playing it. There’s nothing else quite like Metroid Prime in the current gaming landscape

  16. TornadoQuakeX

Having played all the Prime games, I have to say I enjoyed this one probably the least. 1 and 2 were fantastic, 3 was a let down, and this was about as disappointing. The desert is just a waste of space. They could’ve just stitched all the areas together like literally every single other Metroid game, but now it takes 10 minutes to get all the way back to base camp for an upgrade.

  17. TheTeleporter_Shisui

Absolutely love the 2D metroid series (especially dread & fusion) and have fond memories of prime 1, so I was looking forward to this one for a while. But I think I’m gonna pass, just seems so anti-metroid. The vast open/empty desert, the companions, and honestly even the psychic powers just arent vibing well with what I was hoping for. Havent seen enough good content from what I’ve watched to convince myself its worth it

  18. I just finished it today. It’s pretty short but also one of the worst Metroid games I played
First one was in 1988 Metroid 1. I played all of them and my favorite ia still super Metroid.

Other M was the worst of all of them. This one is pretty close. The graphics are outstanding but that is all I can say about what is good.

The npcs are really a no go and destroy everything what a Metroid game is really all about.

Not much varia in enemies and also not a lot.
Bosses are nice but it’s to much matrix like.

The last boss is the worst and really not for a Metroid game.

The motorcycle while it doesn’t drive badly, it is overkill and shouldn’t be in the game. Instead they better used the spaceship to travel. The sand level is garbage and that you have to collect all gems is also BS.

I’m pist and whatever team created this should be fired immediately. Let’s go back to what Metroid really is instead of making some kind of Matrix halo game.

  19. TrickRoom92

I’ve been playing this and Cosmic Invasion concurrently so I’m not very far in Metroid yet. I sincerely hope it picks up a bit though, right now it seems like a lot of endlessly similar corridors and some quite tedious minibosses every other room. Finished MCI so going to go full on Metroid now. I loved Prime and Fusion/Super/Zero Mission so much, I’m very aware I’m giving this game more of a chance than I would if it was just Cool Spacesuit Adventures rather than Metroid Prime 4.

  20. Three_Froggy_Problem

This game was a massive disappointment to me as a big Metroid fan. My fear when they first showed it off was that it would just be more of the same, but now I wish that’s what it had been because what we actually got was a significantly stripped back version of the Prime formula. It’s actually alarming how linear the game is and how boring the level and puzzle design is.

All that said, it’s absolutely gorgeous to look at and I think it has my favorite game soundtrack of the year.

Anyway, I hope we get more Prime games in the future, that they don’t take 18 years to come out, and that they’re a lot more creatively inspired than this one.

  21. DM_Ur_Tits_Thanx

I’ve played all the prime games so far and this one is so whatever burger to me.

  22. I can’t speak on it as I haven’t played it, but I’ve never seen so many people be so careful when criticizing a game before…

99% of comments are “has [issue], but [compliment]!”

Nobody is going to hurt you for just criticizing. That’s what discussions are for. I firmly believe, without even playing it yet, that discussions around this game will be completely different when the next Metroid arrives.

  23. vansky257

So sad to see this game not live up to its full potential after being in dev hell 🙁 metroid fans deserve better

  24. Exciting-Prune-5998

I am loving this game and I don’t feel like I need to qualify that statement with any criticisms. I’ve heard the end has a tedious bit in the desert but until then, it’s just a joy to play so far.

  25. Honest-Shock2834

Best trailer so far, unironically, although very spoilery.
I was hoping for a dlc announcement.

  26. peter-man-hello

Great trailer. Some awesome boss fights in this one.

  27. I’ve been enjoying it. NPCs are inoffensive. Any more development of them would have felt too much.

  28. PortlandoCalrissian

Spent 80 hours playing it. Think I might try and get a refund.
