I mean you aren't WRONG about the type matchup in gen 6, Shauna picks the one weak to yours and Serena/Calem is strong against yours, the only thing that people argue over is whether or not we count Shauna as an actual RIVAL
You only battle her twice iirc and both times its a cake walk, as opposed to I believe 7 or 8 Calem battles (would need to check that)
Gen 5 hgss was THE peak, and I don't care what you guys think about things like Emerald or Black or ORAS… HGSS had safari zones with multiple pseudo legendaries like beldum or bagon, the pokeathelon, 16 gyms, you can get 9 different starters, and there are more legendary pokemon in those games, than any other installment of Pokemon at the time. I love you HGSS ❤
well you have kinda 3 rivals in x and y and one does pick the starter thats weak against yours same in gen 5 atleast in the first black and white not in the second black and white
Technically both are true on what your rival picks. Calem/serena picks the one with an advantage but the other girl (blanking on her name) picks a disadvantage. Both are technically rivals, just one is more serious and the other is silly
I recently played scarlet and violet and was so confused when my rival picked the Pokemon with the type disadvantage to mine. It was so weird. I didn't end up making it very far in that game. The old ones are just so much better.
You have multiple rivals in x and y and the first rival Battle you have is with the rival that takes the starter week to yours so your rival takes a starter week to yours

Well he's technically not wrong you have 4 "rivals" In x and y and 2 of them pick the starters you didn't choose
