Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I are going back to Tokyo in late February or early March, and we have a tradition of buying Pokémon TCG products to open on the airplane on the way home. This time we are planning to spend around 350,000 to 450,000 yen in total, so we are really trying to plan where to buy in advance to get the best value and selection.
Last time we were in Japan in December we mainly relied on Pokémon Centers, but we quickly ran into strict purchase limits, often one item per person, which made it a bit underwhelming when you want to buy more volume. Because of that, I am hoping to get recommendations for other shops in Tokyo that are good for sealed booster packs and sealed boxes, with fair pricing and reliable products.
We are mostly interested in newer sets that are fun to open, but we are also open to rarer or older boxes if the prices are not completely unreasonable. I have heard a lot about areas like Akihabara, Ikebukuro, and Nakano, but I would love to hear which areas and which specific shops are actually worth prioritizing and which ones are more tourist traps.
Since we will go in late Feb, would trying to get the new anniversary packs be worth a shot maybe?
Any advice on good stores, pricing differences, restock timing, or general tips for buying sealed Pokémon TCG in Tokyo would be hugely appreciated.
