Looks like all the Minecraft Smash Remixes got released in an album, anyone here anything about this? Why now after 5 years? Is it Microsoft/Mojang who own the rights to these arrangements rather than Nintendo?

Well, I doubt Nintendo would own the rights to someone else’s music like that. Typically games licence external music to use in their games rather than the other way around, which is why gta4 had a bunch of music removed, as did the re-release of fallout 4.
It’s likely up to Microsoft or whoever made the arrangements on when and where it’s published outside of the game
