Hi everyone! I spoke with the mod team, and the older post was removed due to personal links in the first post but I received permission to repost without.
[UPDATE 1] I also have a positive update. My Pokemon loving, catching, and poke-walking partner and wife is out of surgery. Initial reports indicate a very positive outcome with a long road to recovery.
The original post is below, but the I’ll add a TL:DR for those who don’t want to read our real life and Pokemon love saga!
TL;DR: met current wife 4 years ago. On our 3rd date I got caught playing PokemonGo and had to confess to being a life long poke addict (circa 1999). She started playing with me when that day and since then she keeps a Pokemon-based/themed postcard system with her PokemonGo captures over the last few years, capturing many of our big milestone moments in our lives!
She got very sick recently but maintains her spirits and our bond of playing Pokemon, old and new, is keeping her hopes alive during this difficult time!

I apologies in advance for the sob story. If potential loss or medial issues are a trigger, this post may upset you.
I (30M) met my now wife (27F) in 2022. She had seen Pikachu balloons during the Macy Day Parade on TV, but never really knew what much more than that.
I've been an avid Pokemon player since 1999. I started PoGo on launch day in 2016. It's something I love with my whole heart, because it lets me be that trainer in the world of Pokemon I always wanted. It was and still is a dream come true.
I admitted my love for Pokemon somewhat embarrassingly on my 3rd date with my then girlfriend in 2022. I was pacing around in front of the restaurant nervous and spinning stops and catching Pokemon to think about anything other than my nerves. I wasn't aware until I turned around and almost bumped into her that she had arrived. I spent the next few minutes while waiting for our table explaining Pokemon, and then PokemonGo.
I should have known at this moment this would be the girl | married. Because Instead of gawking or chuckling and passing it off, she asked if she could play with me. She asked if we could catch Pokemon together.
She's very sentimental. She now loves and has been playing PokemonGo almost daily since that day. She likes to use the Pokemon as little postcards. She'll often name Pokemon after where we were when we caught them or special events. I've seen some she's showed me before.
We got married barely a month ago on Christmas. Today we're in the hospital. Nadia has barely been conscious for the last 72 hours, and I've rushed her to the emergency department. They discovered several masses and need to do surgery immediately. She is scheduled for surgery within the hour
My wife gave me her phone through our tears and told me to catch her some "hospital guys" for her. I caught her favorite Pokemon, Hoppip. He literally spawned right as | logged in, and l've taken it as a good luck sign. As usual, I caught it on my phone and immediately traded it to her for extra candy (she likes to collect them). Of course it was a lucky trade.
I told her before they whisked her away, and she said "my luck."
Those are the last words I've heard from her since she's gone back.
I went through her PokemonGo storage just to pass my time, and I started discovering all the different Pokemon she's discovered, caught, and named based on the events so far in our life. I've been in tears since then.
I posted this to my local PoGo community, and they encouraged me to share the story here, and start a GoFundMe.
We often would go to meet ups with our local ambassador, and our last one was braving the frigid cold this last weekend to capture "angry Thunder kitty"
