For Unova I wanted to make it less cluttered, so I cut Leavanny, Unfeazant, Scraggy, and Palpitoad (don’t worry Cilan catches him instead). And gave Braviary as the replacement, so that he can still be constantly switching.
For Kalos I cut Goodra and Hawlucha because I disliked him having 2 dragons and 3 flying types.
I contradictedly added Trevanant and Aegislash, since they fit him best out of all of the options, plus he wouldn’t own a ghost type yet anyways, and it’d give him his very first steel type.
For Alola, I decided to just base it off of my ongoing rewrite, where Hau is the main companion and uses Decidueye, instead of Ash having one.
Naganadel was removed for being annoying.
Golisopod was the one from treasure island, that Ash would meet again at some point and add to his team.
Passimian is the one from the banned episode.
Toucanon would be caught in the first episode, and leave at some point in Ultra Advenutres, to then join back right before the league.
Journeys is the most complicated here. My idea was that it would be an alternate universe where Ash entered the WCS with his old Pokemon.
I wanted to give him 3 starters he Had never obtained.
For Fire I figured Blaziken was the best option left.
I wanted to give him Chesnaught for grass, but three fighting types seemed a bit much. So I gave him the Grookey that Goh would’ve caught.
For water it was either Popplio or Piplup, and I wanted him to have a fairy type, so Popplio seemed like the better fit.
Then the other journeys team would be his Arceus team. The idea was that every once in a while we would see an Arceus episode where he did stuff in Hisui to promote the game.
Decidueye would be a gift from Hau.
Arcanine seemed like a Pokemon he’d get along with.
Braviary was a psychic type (the only one he wouldn’t have) and since he already had one I thought it’d be a Pokemon he’d be able to bond with quickly.
Garchomp is his Gible from DP, and Lucario is his Journeys one.
