Some very “gassy” reptiles

Alright, so these guys right off the bat are without a doubt the most research I've done so far for a concept. So just a warning, everything I describe about them is going to be a whole lot science I had to cram into my brain to create this concept. So if you don't care for that, just know that when I say they're gassy, I don't mean they burp and fart all the time. Gassy in this case means a type of gas found in nature that they also produce naturally. I'll also put their name origins here for those who don't want all the science stuff below. Acridile is acrid and crocodile, Rancidile is rancid and crocodile, and Caustidile is caustic and crocodile

THE SCIENCE: So the specific gas these guys produce is hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly flammable gas that also produces a rotten egg smell (hence why I have the first stage keep their egg shell). Hydrogen sulfide is naturally found in places like swamps, hot springs, and oil/gas deposits, and this guys case, volcanoes. When crocodiles make their nests, they bury their eggs near the water and cover them with rotting vegetation, and the decomposition process is what provides the heat for their incubation. So instead of being buried near a river, these crocs bury their eggs near the base off volcanoes. Which infuses them with the hydrogen sulfide and the heat from the volcano also helps with the incubation. And then you might be wondering what the heck is that stuff draped all over them. Well that is an organic material made of stuff like roots, microbes, and egg residue that has been thermally charred while they were incubating. So this material is something that they can reignite at any point, while also being able to create deadly explosions with the gas and heat they produce

Alright, hopefully I described all that I needed to with these guys. Credit for the artwork goes to @poketrainervb on Instagram as always. Any questions feel free to ask. But hope you enjoy this line, and thanks for checking these guys out!
