I've wanted to bring my Fakémon ideas to life for a long time. Finally took the plunge, starting with this Mega Regidrago idea that's been filed away for a hot minute. Monshop (monshop.ig on Instagram) is responsible for the incredible art, as well as helping me flesh out some of the design choices.
This idea started with me simply wanting to see Regidrago with wings. Eventually it became a Mega concept. As you can see in the concept sheet, his feet became free orbiting thrusters/emitters. They project wings when on the sides, a tail like jet propulsion when on the rear, and sharp legs when on the bottom. The lower jaw splits into two to form arms when it transitions into the standing mode.
Monshop's idea to make the skull and wings reflect both Mega Charizards, as an homeage to the base form's skull, was a brilliant touch I wish I had thought of. The cracks along the skull are just embellishments to portray the usual overflowing of megastone energy seen in many other megas. But the markings on the "core", or body, are actually based on old and middle Chinese characters for the word dragon.
Big thanks again to Monshop. Amazing artist, super thorough in facilitating Fakémon designs. Highly recommend them, and I'll be sure to share what we make next!
