Wow! Lived to see the DS outsold. Probably a consequence of home and handheld console sales being merged, and the Switch being out for such an incredibly long time. Quite the turn around from Gen. 8’s sales woes!

It’s weird because the NES felt like a bigger deal than the Switch. I’m sure it’s just that the video game industry has grown so much but when I was a kid the NES was everything.

Not quite apples to oranges, but feels like the comparison is a little asymmetrical because the DS was competing against the Wii to some extent.
Obviously there’s a price difference and it’s comparing something over a 15-year difference anyways so idk. Impressive nonetheless.
