I am making a pokemon filogenetic tree because i dont like the ones that are already around and i found out that unowns are probably related to sigilyph, that in turn seems to be related to xatu or at least once have been a bird (flying type, wings, flying egg group). I hate it, but both the looks and the themes (sigyl, gliphs and letters are almost the same idea)
the worst part is that it makes sense they dont have wings anymore as they can just literally float psychicaly.
TLDR: unown are birds that transcended matter and now are one with the fabric of reality
