Bit of backstory, I grew up with Pokemon and Platinum was my first ever main series game (Shadows of Almia was the true first) back when I got it for my birthday in April 2009. I've played and replayed it quite a bit over the course of my life along with other games in the series, so I'm very familiar with Pokemon, Gen 4 especially.
Fast-forward to 2024, my girlfriend (of four years now! :D) is talking about how she hasn't played any Pokemon games because she only had a Wii growing up, and I realize that I have two copies of Platinum, as well as my old DSi and 3DS, meaning that we can both play at the same time! So on July 8th of that year, we started the game together.
And tonight at 12:42am, she beat Cynthia and completed the game.
It only took so long because we took breaks from it occasionally, but after losing and restarting Cynthia's battle about 6 times, she finally clutched it with one Pokemon left and beat the game!
It may sound silly but I feel so proud of her and so happy that she enjoyed the game, she ragequit a few times but she always came back to it and she enjoyed the game a lot. I'm so happy that I got to play alongside her and share part of my childhood with the person I love.
Now we're just debating whether to play Heartgold and Soulsilver, or Black and White next!
