Been working on commissioning some artists to do Pokémon teams for several stormlight characters. First one completed has been Adolin by @minhui__you on IG (https://www.instagram.com/minhui__you). They have more stuff on their VGen (https://vgen.co/Ulicia_You) gallery.
I wanted to depict Adolin post-WaT in a fashion folio wearing a takama and with his team (see below for why I chose those 6). I also requested to include his armorspren leg prosthesis he uses after Abidi’s fight.
The team is the following, the dex entries from Bulbapedia.
Lilligant-Hisui: That’s Mayalaran. Had the idea since Legends Arceus came out. The fact that’s a grass and fighting mon and Maya was revealed to be a soldier in WaT makes it even a better match!
Zacian: She is a good girl with a sword!Need I say more? Well, I also liked the fact the sword is made from metal particles according to the dex, which reminded me to a Shardblade. Looking up now, the fact that she can match even Gigantamax mons reminds me of Adolin vs the Thunderclast..
Milotic: It’s the beauty Pokémon. I think it fitted pretty well someone into fashion and Adolin’s “pretty boy” side.
Mega-Gallade: Apart from the design being a guy with two swords and a cape, these dex descriptions also seems to fit Adolin: “A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using extending swords on its elbows.” and “When trying to protect someone, it extends its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely.”
Leavanny: It just woves clothes for the little guys and has strong protective instincts. Also, blades in the arms. Reminds me of Adolin’s good-hearted nature and love for fashion.
Clodsire: It is described to help ferry woopers and also risking everything when attacked by sticking out the spines in the back. Reminds me to the contrast between Adolin being gentle but also hot headed and going all out when defending someone. Plus the white spines also remind me to a Whitespine, which thematically matches the 4v1 duel and one of the chapter titles where it happens, Whitespine Uncaged.
Next one to come should be Dalinar!
