Possibly the easiest sculptures in my series of 151 realistic Kanto Pokémon to date! You would not believe how much faster you can sculpt a figurine when they're just a head popping out of the ground.
Anyway, the clear inspiration for these two… four?… critters were real world moles, considering that Diglett is literally "The Mole Pokémon".
From a design perspective, the biggest change to the silhouette comes from giving them more pronounced snouts, which would aid them in navigating subterranean burrows.
I like to imaging that rather than Dugtrio being a trio of Digletts, that those three heads are branding off from a singular body. Now, this sounds like it would eb cumbersome when navigating tunnels, but I think the added sensory elements of two more sets of eyes and noses would prove quiet helpful in finding pray.
