Presentation wise, this sequel looks great, maybe even better (first game already looked awesome).
Great new cast and a killer big mystery. This sequel feels more focused, with fewer little side mysteries sprinkled throughout like in the first game. Still a ton of story though.
The diving mini-game is surprisingly fun. It nails that "just one more dive!" thing, if you're into getting high scores. It's short so you can jump back to it anytime.
You can play this sequel first, then play the previous game, it's fine. Just a few mentions of the first game's events.
Less horror stuff overall. If you loved the first game mainly for the scary stuff, this one might feel lighter. Even so, it still has that foreboding atmosphere. Give the sequel a shot as the story is fantastic.
Hoping for a 3rd game!

I’m not done yet but can’t wait to continue playing after work.
After people raved about emio being great when it was so mid, Im wary of mystery/murder game recommendations. Still haven’t found anything close to zero escape or ghost trick. Danganronpa people rave about but is okayish not brilliant. Rain code was also just okay. And in the broader text heavy games, still nothing beat ace attorney trilogy and its masterfully done beats. Just replayed it last year again too.
It have a better story than the first one for me, the lore is deep in this game. But sadly the characters is not that great compare to the first one, they are not as impactful or flesh out as the first game. I felt like half of the main cast or pov’s are just to set up for the next sequel, they are interesting but not fully flesh out. Finally i really hates the final puzzle, it’s unbelivablely hard. It require you some very specific details.
Agreed! The story this time around was jam packed with details, more history and folklore, and I loved how everyone’s paths intertwined.
I was hoping for a character from the first game to make a cameo, but I think that seems likely in a third game.
Plus I’m a fan of Gen Kobayashi’s art! You can really see and feel the emotions in the characters’ faces.
I hated the last 1/3 of the narrative of the last game does this do anything differently by the end? Like I loved how the last game started with jump scares and actual spooks but then it divulged into a pretty standard point and click with an ending that just fell flat, imo.
