IMO this is why it’s important that the games don’t be *too* easy, because it pushes you to play like this and creates these cool moments that do feel like the anime

That’s I always try to do! To give each of my pokemon it’s moment of shine against one of the Elite 4 members or Champion

I’m with you. I do my best to play the whole game similarly, by making sure each member of my team gets a gym (or equivalent major battle) to get the win and finish them off.

I always try not to overlevel because of this exact reason.
Oneshotting everything with 10lvl+ was cool for me as a child but now it’d get boring really fast

And you save your mega/z-move/tera/dynamax for their final pokémon right?

Sometimes I end up setup sweeping an important fight with one mon because it’s the most efficient way to win, but I’ll end up resetting to get a more “satisfying” victory lol.

I’ve been utilizing one of my more favored playstyles as of late (originally came up with it for a Nuzlocke) where I match the gym leader count and then I box the team I brought to the Gym Challenge, and then start using a whole different team, while keeping that boxed team on standby until I get to the League and then train them all up for the final challenge.
It allows me to use a large variety of pokemon in a playthrough.

Exactly what I do bro, I take out one, then the champ, then me, then the champ, then I bring it down to a final battle of aces.

I usually try to do that. Sometimes it doesn’t work but I think on the Adventure, for example on Moon, my Alolan Marowak didn’t do too much on the League but I wouldn’t had defeated Lusamine without him

I always try to give each member something to do during the Elite Four + Champion fights. It feels right.

In FireRed, each of my Pokémon served an important role against the Elite Four and rival. I had Blissey as my healer, whose Softboiled move would be used in between battles to save on Full Heals. I had Venusaur as a powerhouse, who could also put enemies to sleep if needed. Against the rival, when I’d get him down to his final Pokémon (usually Charizard, because anime logic dictates the strongest is saved for last), I’d switch to Lapras, use Perish Song, and then switch to Mewtwo, who just spams Recover until Perish Song finishes its countdown. A very disrespectful way to end the battle, but it’s hilarious.

Personally view the whole elite 4 + champion battle as one challenge so not using every pokemon in the champion fight is fine if they were of us before hand.

Man, I would give my soul to Nintendo if they made a pokemon game with difficulty levels AND voice acting. As well bringing megas back again and again. That shit cool af

Me doing this to Kieran twice and losing both times. Never gonna live it down.
