Was I supposed to make sure I finish and collect the X or Y Research Legendary Pokemon catch during the Kalos Global Tour?

I picked the X path. I thought to myself that since its a Research, I could finish and collect the rewards and catch Xerneas whenever I wanted. I caught it and realized that it doesn't have Geomancy. Was it supposed to have Geomancy if I had caught it during the Tour? Omg. This sucks! Imagine if it was a Shiny Xerneas! The same thing happened for my nephew's account as I picked the Y path for him and his Yveltal doesn't have Oblivion Wing as I caught it after the Tour.
