Gen 10 starters etymology

Hi guys! As someone with a background in biology and zoology, and a Pokémon geek since Gen 1, I can’t help but always geek out over Pokémon etymology. Haha

If Gen 10 really takes inspiration from Asian regions, I’ve been thinking about how all their names could subtly reflect that while still following classic Pokémon naming patterns.

BROWT (Broth + Growth)
Assumed to be a Grass-type chicken starter. “Growth” reflects its Grass typing and evolution theme, while “Broth” is a subtle nod to chicken broth (like tinola in Filipino cuisine). It’s not literal food-based, just layered fun wordplay.

POMBON (Pomeranian + Bonfire)
A small, fluffy Fire-type dog. Pomeranians already resemble tiny fireballs because of their thick, rounded coats, so the visual inspiration fits naturally.

GECQUA (Gecko + Aqua)
A Water-type gecko Pokémon inspired by tokay and leaf geckos endemic to Borneo and the Philippines, with sleek patterns reflecting its river and rainforest habitats.

Feel free to discuss your predictions for their evolutions and potential names. Man, I’m so excited for Gen 10 Pokémon! Look how far we've come.
