Pokemon names changed after recent update?

So i had renamed my Pokemon with signs like Hundos with stars to avoid to accidently throw them away. Like ✯Hundo✯ and ✩shiny✩.

Now the names are all gone, seems like theres no official information?

That is really annoying, its not working anymore either. So now i have to find a new way to mark them since the favourite star is annoying too.
