Not to be a Scopely-Niantic bootlicker but I’m fine with the legendary catch/flee rate. It makes it feel more like the games where the legendarys are more difficult to catch. When you do catch them it feels like a major accomplishment.
I could see them rolling out similar incense events with legendaries maybe to boost masterball sales. (Especially with the unreleased paradox legendary Pokemon) That being said it wouldn’t complain about lower flee rate, but overall still find it enjoyable and hope they do more events like this in the future

I liked it a lot. Was amazing to see legendaries just randomly spawning! I’m fine with the catch rate but if the flee rate was a little bit better it would have been perfect.
I still caught a few though so even if it came back as is, I’d still play it
I love this thought!:)
I got a few on Sat/Sun then left it to the autocatcher today. Only used maybe 5 incense all told anyway.
Yeah it’s fine. I’m fine with catch rate, if they want it to be repeatable event then you wouldnt want everyone to catch everything they see.
But in general, not a fan of incense mechanic, forces me to hold the phone in hand and it’s annoying as hell.
This event was hot garbage.
They hyped up all the Ultra beast raids and in my ambassador hosted community of ~20 gyms we would only see 1-2 ultra beasts spawn at any given moment forcing us to leave and drive around to find other raids because the other gyms were all Pikachu.
The remote raid limit of 10 raids a day was stupid and I couldn’t get shinnies of the ones I wanted because of the limit.
If you have an autocatcher you had to turn off the auto catch pokemon of the few legendaries that did spawn would immediately be locked on to forcing them to flee. Im not too upset at the low catch rate but it didnt need to be THAT low. (I didnt catch a single one after playing 14 hours). It did seem like the Ultra Beasts were very difficult to catch as well. I would get 20 balls and if im being honest – I’d hit about 8 Excellent 6 great and the rest were regular or nice and even rocking Black kyurems adventure effect I had about 20% flee.
Over all it felt like they were doing too much in this event and the event suffered because of it. If your farming Ultra beasts the raids were sparce, Not nearly enough remotes, wild legendary spawns were too difficult to catch, biom specific pokemon were difficult to track down, Terrible field research tasks and rewards, paid pass had a bunch of fluff pokemon that I didnt care to catch.
A ton of stuff spawned and none of the 20+ legendaries stayed in their balls
El evento ha sido una mierda he visto 77 legendadios y he capturado 4 asique ha sido una porquería…. Nose porquw lo alagan tanto.
One thing I noticed that was unusual was that few people were raiding this weekend, generally on a big weekend my friends list is full of people raiding, this weekend I guess everyone was walking. Even in person very little action.
The event is mostly fine. Lots of filler, and most of the spawns are mid because most pokemon are mid.
Shiny Legendary should have been kept at 1:20 though
I went 3/3 today on a 20 min walk with ice burn on.
One of them wasn’t even an excellent throw.
I’m just glad I have white kyurem so I didn’t have the headache everyone else did. I spent most of the weekend getting 80 and liked the event for that.
Catching ultra beast was rough though. I went 2/4 this weekend.
Overall, not bad at all.
Reducing wild spawn shiny rate was quite disappointing for me. It made the want to grind out specific mons just not worth it due to dilution. The legendary spawns are super cool however, not really functionally useful. Because the floor was 0/0/0, and they were full odd shinies (or close to it), i felt the event was geared more towards newer players to fill the dex. That’s perfectly fine but that is not me.
IMO, this event had abominably low rates for things that I wanted but If you don’t need/want specifics, its perfect for you.
I think there’s a really fun event in this idea, but it wasn’t quite there for me this weekend.
In the 3-4 hours I walked over the weekend, I went 1-for-5 on Saturday, and 0-for-6 on Sunday. Nothing made it past the 2nd ball, and no shinies.
I really enjoyed the randomness of the legendary spawns. It was fun to suddenly be dwarfed by Lugia or see a Latias hiding amongst a crowded spawn. But once I learned they were Galarian Bird difficult, it really felt more like a ‘Catch and Release’ event…I’d grab a screenshot, toss a ball, and move on.
**Maybe if this was a Pokemon Snap event?** ”Take a Photo with a Legendary in the Wild” up to “Take a Photo with 10 Legendaries in the Wild” would have made me feel rewarded for the exploration and any catches would be icing.
As for the Masterball, I have two but used zero. Since the IVs were random and without a floor, what good would a 2700CP Rayquaza do for me vs. the 10-10-10 I’m guaranteed next raid day?
Good idea, bad execution. Nothing out if the ordinary spawned, legendaries was nice but already seen 100000 times in raids. Raids was also a good idea, I really wanted to get aome missing shinies, but it was usually Pikachu and the birds, which we already got million times before. Almost didn’t see any evolved forms, and the ones I did see were the same as before. Regular spawns were also terrible. The kanto pass was great… Fun to catch almost all… But only one shiny. Expected more. Last note, the quests??? Catch, spin and ditto???? That’s it? For a berry and a candy? Why??
I think the wild spawns could have been a bit more, not just on incense. I saw around eight wild spawns in a three town radius over the three days. I think they could have kept the flee rate but upped the wild spawn rate just a litttttlllee bit.
Great idea, poor execution. Either have a lot of legendary spawns with a low catch rate or have a rare number of legendary spawn with a high catch rate.
I did not see many pop up. If they had a high catch rate I probably would’ve ended the weekend with maybe 10-15 legendary. Maybe I would’ve played more if it didn’t feel useless.
All Out Frustration
Surprised Scopely didnt put Safari Balls in the shop. I understand they’re only for safari events but they would have made a lot of money in sure!
Mixed. Having most legendaries spawn from the incense was great, but the fact even with Kyurem’s adventure effect you were catching 1 out of 10 at most was frustratiing. Especially when you catch all the “whatever” mons, but cant get Palkia, Zekrom, Zamazenta, Groudon, Yveltal etc. you are actually looking for.
Honestly, i would prefer if they have either reduced the number of legendary encounters, but increased catch rate and reduced flee rate. Also, this is, for once, an event where using a bike helped a lot. I actually wasn’t able to play much till late Sunday, but i decied to took the bike and damn, it did make it better. Granted, i still caught only 8 mons, but between how little i played AND general catch rate, i would not be surprised if i am iin the ‘lucky camp’. (No shinies though)
Alternatively, i think the number of non-legendary evolved forms and rarer, non-seasonal mons spawning from incense and in general should be higher. It wouldnt feel as bad seeing legendaries flee if i was at least getting more things for my Living Wild Dex or XL Candies for shadows liike Rhyperior, Tyrantrum etc. Not to mention people hunting legendaries with incense were using Kyure’s AE, which means they could quickly catch evolved mons. Read: more stardust for them.
The concept was cool and in general it was funs eeing legendaries and extremely rare wild mons. But yeah, it should have been better. I seriously think prevent was better.
Games aren’t fun when it seems like whatever you do; use golden raspberries, ultra balls, get consecutive excellent throws, it just doesn’t matter on the outcome.
They compounded the frustration people felt with the “No IV floor” & “removal of shiny boosted” conditions chosen for the event. If you do happen to catch something fun, there’s still a high chance it’s just not good.
They should’ve made it more varied for how many throws before legendary flee so it’s not cookie-cutter, set a requirement for nice/great/excellent throws, or just made them take more pokeballs, so it felt challenging without feeling unfair.
People say “no one would be happy no matter what, it should be a challenge to catch legendaries”, but there’s a huge space in-between “catching every one first try, they’re all shiny & perfect IV!” & “Seeing 1-8 legendary Pokemon per hour, they flee after 1-2 throws, if you catch one it’s likely it has terrible stats.”
It felt more like “the claw machine filled with cool stuff, everyone knows will eat your coin”.
Managed to catch 3 legendaries so not too bad. 2 were great ball catches. Latios, Cresselia and Cobalion
I had a great time. I never use incense so I had a ton stored. Nice wind down casual event after go tour week and weekend. I was cool with the spawn and catch rate. Im fortunate to have many of the legendaries already so im not pressed about the high flee rate.
The thing I would’ve liked to see for an “all out event” would’ve been regional mons. I feel like pokemon like relincanth, bouffalant, and sigilyph are rarer than most of the legendaries especially after to go tour prep week.
i liked the event, was a fun one imo 🙂 i caught about 10 impidimp, 4 tinkatink, 2 varoom and 2 honedge with some other rare one-off stuff like bombirdier and salandit 🙂
i dont mind the legendary catch rate, of course i wouldve preferred a lower flee rate but i still managed to catch 7 wild legendaries out of roughly 50 encounters
I feel like this is how the ordinary pool should just be im general, the widened diversity feels so much better. Yes the standard stuff was still extremely prevalent, but I still saw a lot more variety than normal. As for the legendaries, it could be a fun thing to do every now and again, but they should really alter the run rates. Being hard to catch is fine and makes sense for legendaries, but dropping the run from 90% to even something like 50% would at least allow us to have a fair chance at getting more than just a single throw.
Good idea, poor execution (unless you paid for the sticker).
How is nobody talking about the rare candy field research??! I got about 100-150 a DAY just farming field research it was insane I totaled probably about 500-600 rcs straight up for free over the course of the week!!
My main complaint is the shiny nerf. 1/20 would be too high given the sheer number of legendaries I saw from incense this weekend, but whatever it was it was far too low. Our group saw well over 100 legendary and zero shiny. The other nerf to non-legendary shiny was also annoying and noticeable.
There are a lot of people complaining who seem to feel entitled to legendary pokemon. Yeah, they were difficult, but without adventure effects I was still catching about 1 in 6 or 1 in 8, and our entire group has caught on average 6 each. They’re all higher level so candy and stardust saved, how could anyone complain? Just because you encounter a mon doesn’t mean you’re entitled to catch it.
I loved the legendary spawns from incense. I think they should change the DAI to function like this all the time (and move Galar birds to regular raids).
I enjoyed it, played about 5 hours and caught 8 legendaries. Keep in mind these are mostly low quality legendaries as there was no IV floor and the CP’s were high so no chance of battle league IV’s. For me, it was refreshing and kind of neat to see legendaries on the world map, many like kyurem are much larger than I expected.
Do we know what species were excluded (and why). Obv mythicals, etc excluded.
For example, it doesn’t seem like Turtonator was live (I could be totally wrong so correct me if so) – not sure why since other raid Pokemon were included. I didn’t see any Galarian Corsola but perhaps that was considered a regional (did they exist for anyone?).
Anyways not complaining, but understanding the mechanics of stuff like this helps me plan if something similar ever comes up again
I caught 2 out of 6 yesterday and 0 out of 6 today. My son caught 0 out of 5 today.
It was fun, but I think if they made just slightly more spawns and slightly higher catch rate, it would have been better.
Like if I use an incense for an hour, have a legendary pokemon spawn every five minutes that I’m physically moving. And if I use golden razz, ultra ball, and excellent throw, the pokemon shouldn’t flee on the first attempt even if it breaks out, at least give me a second attempt before fleeing. If I hit a great throw or lower, then it’s fun to flee on the first throw.
So yeah, if I caught 4 out of 12 instead of 2 out of 12, that would still be low but not feel bad. And if they do increase the odds just slightly for next time it will actually feel a lot better after going through this event.

After 2 hours of walking yesterday, this was the only legendary i found and in thinking the event ended last night (i didn’t realize it extended through today too) i used my master ball on it…
If this is Scopleys way of reducing Golden Razzes, gg.
Seen 10 Legendaries so far, all fled after the first throw. Even my girlfriend was like “I don’t see them, but you can’t catch them anyways, so I feel better now”.
Thanks Scopley. Appreciate that. 💀
I had a blast honestly. I was able to catch only one Legendary (a Latios) but loved being able to raid for Ultra Beasts again and encounter things that I normally wouldn’t (some highlights were Ceruledge, Armarouge, Duralodon, Tinkatuff, Tatsugiri). I do feel for people who lament about the legendaries having a super high flee rate but truthfully if their flee rate was much lower and their catch rate stayed the same I think there would just be complaints about how many resources were consumed in catching them instead imo. I got a shiny Oddish from the GO Pass, and a shiny Charcadet in the wild which was exciting.
Loved it. Genuinely the most exciting event in years for me. Probably since the first global go fest. Made a huge dent in my wild catches list. Nothing like the flutter of a legendary appearing in the overworld. I thought the catch rate was fine, I don’t have a problem with them being difficult to catch. They’re legendaries. Loved it and hope we get this anniversary weekend every year.
Played for a few hours, got bored / frustrated and went home and worked on getting the yard ready for summer. Which, was significantly more fun than I had anticipated. I just don’t get excited about the game anymore.
Frankly there is still a bad taste in my mouth from those frustrating super mega raids. It made me realize that I’m not really having fun and that maybe my slow drift from the game might need to turn into a brisk walk away.
Pointlessly frustrating
i caught a crap ton of the legendaries. Way more than i thought i would to be honest. But i’v encountered well over 100. And was running Kyurem Whites adventure effect which adds a 50% increased catch rate over Kyurem Blacks that only adds 25% increase. And throwing Ultra Balls.
The whole event felt like the Kyurem effects were nerfed severely.
Fun event and now I know how to temper expectations next time they do this.
