Growing up, I had Pokemon cards here and there. Always around, but never seriously collected. Always admired, but I was always WAY more into the games for sure.
I’ve always wanted to share my love of pokemon with my son, who is now just over 3yr old. So in that interest, we started to talk about it, watch an episode of the OG show here and there. He soon took interest.
With that interest I thought, you know we can collect some cards, maybe build a good collection, and it will be a fun thing to do together and who knows how much we will amass over the years! That was last week, and I had no idea the state of the TCG and collecting hahah….
That being said, I’ll do anything for my son!
So I got some cards on Amazon second hand (I’m sorry) but didn’t pay too much over MSRP. Just to go the ball rolling.
Next is one of the coolest things I ever experienced.
Went Vons to a local pokemon vending machine just to see. There was a dude waiting there at the machine. His name was Tiny. His nickname might have been tiny, but his heart was nothing close to tiny! We talked Pokemon for like 15 min, gave us tips on the vending machine grabs. Cherry on top he gave my son a mega evolutions booster pack for free…. So a cool experience.
So here’s the start of the journey for us… Dad 31yr and Son 3yr. Wish us luck! Here’s what we got so far:
