Axcarab are sap sipping Bug/Steel types who use their axe-shaped horn to pry the cork off trees and leech off of them. They wait for the tree to die and fall to the ground, where swarms of them take control of the husk and become Grothusk.
I imagine the player would evolve Axcarab by interacting with a specific tree. A cutscene would play of the tree falling to the ground and then Axcarab would evolve, taking the tree with it.
I think Axcarab looks really cool, but I don't think I really did a good job communicating Grothusk's design. I wanted it to look like a giant stickbug made out of a tree.
