so we dont know right now if anything is planned on aprill fools, but in previous years there was always something, and my theory is that spotlight hour would be a reference to Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon where there was friendly island named Pikachu Valley where were so many Pikachu and if you were lucky there was a Mimikyu in van,
so my theory is that maybe in last 10 minutes or after spotlight hour we can get a chance to encounter Mimkyu, like i know he is iconic and everybody always tell that he will be a halloween debut but maybe they wanna to surprise us, also they were scheming in game code about this 'mon, also event is named Shocklingy good time and there are many Pikachu-like 'mons
what do you think about it? is it too obvious, or maybe im going too far and there will be nothing but regular pikachu hour

Seems very likely. Mimikyu gotten loads of tweaks in the last months in the game master. There is a Mimikyu avatar item datamined as well. And the go pass for this overall event that overlaps with April fools mentions a unspecified avatar item.
At this point I would be disappointed if it didn’t happen.

My theory is Mimikyu is gunna work on the Ditto/Zorua mechanics. You catch a normal pikachu wait … Oh? it’s a Mimikyu. Makes sense for an April 1st spot light and gives them an excuse to keep bringing Pikachu back cause who knows could be a Mimikyu!

I think Mimikyu will get a big announcement. It’s definitely a fan favorite, so they’re not going to secretly release it. Has Niantic ever (intentionally) released a pokemon without announcing it?
They aren’t going to waste a debut Mon on an unannounced joke. It will be in raids or on incense.
Good theory, but it won’t sell raid passes. Expect it to be a tier 1 raid timed exclusive.
I thought spotlight hours were gone this season. Also, April 1st is a Wednesday, so that wouldn’t correlate with the normal spotlight hour (if they bring them back) on Tuesday.
EDIT: I guess I should have checked the details of the event that will be happening on April Fools Day.
Normally I’d say big shot in the dark, however:
* Mimikyu has had a lot of tweaks behind the scenes in the GameMaster, with its form change being properly implemented most notably.
* There is an unknown Avatar item being advertised for the Go Pass during the Event. It’s definitely odd that they didn’t show/tell what said item is. A Mimikyu outfit was recently datamined, which is very likely what the Avatar item is (that’s the biggest evidence I’d say).
* They are very likely to release Mimikyu before next year’s Alola Tour. And no, it doesn’t *have* to be Halloween.
They will want to make money with Mimikyu. They dont make money with a spotlight hour.
i also forgot to mentions things against it, and main thing is that it would be free realese of popular pokemon that can make a lot of many for them, and if they would realese him as raid exclusive it would probably be a gold cow
I don’t want to believe there is Pikachu spotlight on April 1st without anything special planned for it. Maybe it’s Mimikyu, maybe it’s something else.
If I were them, he would be a rare spawn that always flees and even master balls don’t work.

Given Mimikyu’s popularity, I would expect its debut to be front-page news on the blog, not released as a “surprise.”
With events always starting first in New Zealand, any “surprise” will have been long since spoiled by the time they reach Europe & the Americas.
Mega Mewtwo X & Y were datamined along with Mimikyu, but they’re debuting at the in-person Go Fests that are still 2-3 months away.
[I called it a few days ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/s/xlr1DP0u8m), I really think it’s likely. Almost obvious when you look at the datamines, timing, and theming.

Mimikyu is incredibly popular and more than likely it’s first encounter in GO will be behind a pay wall.
Plot twist they just don’t do anything on April fools and that’s the April fools.
