It is inspired by / based on the Colorado River toad (aka: Sonoran Desert toad), as well as Psychedelics, and Hallucinogenic Compounds.

Bufotoad [Bufotenine (a psychedelic compound) + Toad] – The Mirage Toad Pokémon: (Poison / Psychic Type)
Bufotoad secretes a toxin with mild psychoactive properties from the glands on its back. When threatened, it spits the toxin at attackers, briefly disorienting their senses so it can escape. Aside from the possibility of poisoning, the side effects are harmless and fade within a few minutes.
Croakedelic [Croak + Psychedelic] – The Mirage Toad Pokemon: (Poison / Psychic Type)
Croakedelic produces a far stronger psychedelic toxin than its pre-evolution. The swirling patterns on its body constantly shift as it releases vapors that disorient both Trainers and Pokémon for hours, causing intense auditory and visual hallucinations. Some Trainers claim the effects are oddly calming, though many who inhale the vapor later wake up in the desert with no memory of how they got there.
