For instance, everyone loves anglerfish, but Lanturn doesn't evoke anything that makes them so bizarre and cool. This illustration by my friend John Meszaros (all scientifically accurate) really shows off their variety, and I think even demonstrates that they are all absolutely adorable, in that charmingly bitey way of bulldogs or baby crocodiles. One thing not a lot of people know is that they're really tiny, too! Most are just a couple inches long!
Water/dark is acceptable, but potentially too obvious. I'd most of all love to see one that isn't even water type, like a sand or magma dweller. Or not even a fish per se, like an anglerfish-style carnivorous plant. As long as it has the lure, the googly eyes and the huge, wacky, toothy mouth 🙂
