Unable to remove remote trade tag

I opened a gift to reach forever friend with someone a short while ago.

I had a nosey through their pokemon and there are some I'm interested in, but none that are exceptional. I only looked, I didn't select any as I want to think about it.

Although they have some mons that I'd like, I don't think any of them are worth certain pokemon that I have in my remote trade tag. So, before the other player comes online and starts looking at what I have, I wanted to un-tag a few.

However, it is impossible to remove the remote tag from my pokemon. I get an error message saying 'failed to assign tags' even after restarting the game.
