Pokemon

A FR/LG pro tip from an old veteran

After you obtain the Pokeflute in lavender town you can use it to awaken sleeping Pokemon! Never pay for an awakening again!

(Careful it’ll wake your enemy too!)

Its funny. I totally forgot about this. I knew it in my younger years, amd somehow fucking forgot it again lol.

Some of y’all didn’t grow up with Pokémania in the playground and it shows.

This feels like the most obvious thing in the world to me.

Yellow Flute from Game Corner does the same with confusion! Infinite reuses!

It’s funny how half of the FRLG sprites are amazing, and the other half are dogshit. Snorlax’s falls into the latter category.

I had to spam the pokeflute when I was using a team based on the first advert I ever saw in Pokemon, that damn exeggutor would not let up with the hypnosis.

Brother this is tech from the original red and blue games. You ain’t an old vet.

  8. Blue Flute for the same effect in RSE, DPPt, HGSS, and ORAS.

Yellow Flute (available at the game corner in FRLG) does the same thing with confusion.

Red Flute (can be obtained in FRLG by trading a Pokemon holding it from RSE) does infatuation.

Black and White Flutes (available in FRLG via trade) don’t have an in-battle effect, but in RSE, FRLG, DPPt, and HGSS they reduce (black) or increase (white) the random encounter rate, and in ORAS they increase (black) or decrease (white) the level of random encounters.

I never thought of doing that when I was playing Blue. Never thought of it at all. Capturing Mew in Blue was fun as hell though.

I learned this in special yellow edition 22 (fuck I’m old) years ago because I mis clicked an item. Listen here whipper snappers (might as well embrace the age). Back in those day all the items were just listed. No category or anything. Your key items were sometimes right next to a potion. Or pokeballs

I sold all my Awakenings in Gen 1 after I got the flute. Small savings yes, but teaches the value of being smart with money.

I could’ve sworn this worked in HGSS too when I was a kid. Maybe I mixed up which game?

  13. Been doing it since Red and Blue. Once you obtain the Poké Flute, you never need to buy Awakening ever again.

  14. On my original playthrough I recall using this to stall extra turns without burning PP while toxic/leech seed worked its way through the Elite Four’s Pokémon.

  15. I genuinely had no idea but I also didn’t know how to get gengar and assumed he was a legendary rare spawn as a kid so it doesn’t shock me
