Ditto has a Tell



Probably not the best example for this, but this Charmanders a generally lower level than most, and became a Ditto. But I did see a Weatherboosted CP 13 Charmander which I knew would be a Ditto. It’s a small tell but if the disguised Pokemon is weather boosted, and is a level lower than 6, it’s guaranteed a Ditto likely.

I heard Ditto can also be a much higher cp than a Pokemon could be. But not sure about that.

    I have never seen myself, but I remember hearing if you give a pinap to a ditto, it does the bursting candy animation showing pink ditto candy instead of the candy of the mon it is mimicking

    Yes any “impossible” spawns will be a ditto. So if your spawn is a level 1-4 weatherboosted pokemon then it will be a ditto. Same with if it’s not weatherboosted and level 31+ in partially cloudy it will be a ditto. IV of the ditto will also match the disguised spawn too as long as it matches ditto’s weatherboost status.

    My tell is that lower CP ones that should be green are dark orange.

    This event isn’t really helpful for finding “tells” as the starters + Pikachu generally have a lower catch rate to begin with.

    I know that they don’t want to because it would make it too obvious, but I kind of wish that disguised Pokemon had the ditto face

    I know it’s a ditto when I catch the pokemon and it’s a ditto usually when it’s likely to be the ditto

    A giveaway is weather boosts – if something should be boosted but isn’t, it’s probably Ditto; conversely, if a Pokemon shouldn’t be weather boosted but currently is (and normal is one of the actively boosted types), you can bet it’s a Ditto.

    insanely funny how when it was a low level i had a research task for finding a ditto and i desperately tried catching every mon i saw just to finally finish it

    now im just focusing on catching specific mons for candy and now frustrated when i pop pinap berry just for it to be a ditto

    Pinap berries will give it away. Throw one and watch the pink candy come out
