Old man here. I’m 41 and I remember this game came out back when I was like 14. I should have learned back then.
Anywho, I bought my son a Battle Academy set so we could learn to play together. It has a Pikachu deck, a fire bunny deck, and an Eevee deck that it’s my understanding is an advanced deck. So, I bought another advanced deck at Walgreens on a whim so we had two of each; beginner and advanced.
The new advanced deck in question is Sun & Moon: Burning Shadows.
The card I’m confused on is Alolan Sandslash:
“Smash Turn: 50 damage. Switch this Pokémon with one of your benched Pokémon.”
So… is that second part an optional ability? Or is it every time I want to attack to do 50 damage, I have to immediately swap it out? And if that’s the case, how do you beat this card if it hits and immediately runs away?
Stupid question, I know. I should have learned this when I was a kid but I didn’t know then I’d one day have a son who would be interested enough to want to play and I want to be available to him whenever he wants to play rather than him having to wait until friends are over.
