
I started playing Pokémon GO back in 2016 because I wanted to see if it was really as “stupid” as the media made it seem. Turns out – I loved it. It actually motivated me to get outside and move more.
At the time, my son was 2 years old, so obviously my priorities weren’t exactly focused on a mobile game. I stopped playing, briefly came back for about two months in 2018, and then dropped it again.
Recently, I picked it up again for my partner. It kind of became our thing. But lately, he’s been playing less and less, which honestly made me really sad. I missed that shared experience so much that I was close to uninstalling the game again.
But then something unexpected happened – through this community, I found a lot of great people. It didn’t feel right to just disappear without saying anything.
My first shiny ever was a Vulpix, which I caught during a walk with my partner on December 26th, 2025. He was so excited about it, and I didn’t even understand why at the time.
Today, I caught my 21st shiny. And only because one of my friends invited me to a raid. We lost the first one, but won the second.
