Pokemon

Solo’d pokemon x with only a bunnelby.

This is marshmallow, the fittingly brave natured level 100 bunnelby who single handedly conquered the entire kalos region (and first tried diantha btw). For reference I had a no items in battle rule for this run (other than held items). This was easily one of the hardest challenge runs I’ve ever decided to take on. I found myself at so many road blocks where I had to keep reseting and trying a battle over and over again until the right circumstances would play out as certain battles didn’t always have a strategy to help me win without a decent amount of luck. Granted, there may have been strategies I didn’t think of at times that could have made some of these moments easier, but if you want take on this run for yourself (which I do NOT recommend) I can promise you you will find yourself in many situations where you will have to redo battles over and over and over again until you get that one quick claw pop or that lucky crit you need. (Unless you decide to over level to hell but even then you’ll definitely STILL end up in a situation like this). The held items made a big difference and the ones I want to shout out are the quick claw, the earth plate, the chople berry, and the sitrus berry. Some battles that were impossible were made possible thanks to these items and the cheek pouch ability on top of those berrjes was an absolute game changer. As somebody who didn’t like bunnelby too much before this run, I still think it sucks but I do have more of an appreciation for it now lol. Marshmallow is a living proof that any pokemon can be a champion and the power they hold is in that of the trainer’s ability (and rng).

(P.S. if you’re dumb like me and wanna try this run, I’ll leave some notes below you might find helpful:

The rival battles are HELL. Every time you don’t outspeed a mon, you are in serious trouble with bunnelby as it is beyond defenseless. Every member of your rival’s team, unless they have a chesnaught which mine did not, outspeeds you except absol which still has quick attack for priority. This makes it so unless you overlevel to absolute hell, which may or may not become obsolete by the time you hit the final rival battle, you need to rely on quick claw to carry you so hard in these battles unless there is a strat I haven’t thought of yet to bypass this.

Lysander also sucks. His mienshao almost always cooks you and again requires quick claw or some luck on him missing high jump kick to defeat it. It is also preferable you have bounce in your moveset for these battles. His pyroar is immediately sent out after this which has fire blast and also outspeeds you. Practically speaking you need to set up with p up punch of bulk up and pray to the quick claw gods.

Even if you over level by 30-40 levels compared to your opponent, it will probably still not make a speed difference in a lot of cases. Despite speed being bunnelby’s best stat it is still very slow. This may be mildly different depending on your bunnleby’s nature however as I was blessed and cursed in some ways with the brave nature which lowers speed.

This run is far more doable if your bunnelby has the cheek pouch ability as opposed to pick up. I only found myself winning 2/4 e4 battles thanks to having the cheek pouch ability. Other wise I would’ve needed some unreasonable quick claw or crit luck to even have a chance. It might still be possible with pickup, but it would be way harder than it already is.

You get a singular chople berry without getting a gyarados with whirlwind in this run to farm a specific berry tree (if you wanna allow mons to berry farm I find that permissible as it doesn’t progress the story I just personally didn’t allow other mons except for HM slaves) and it’s from a furfrou in pokemon village. Save that for the clawitzer that the water type e4 member has. That aura sphere damage is lethal.

Please utilize the dummy training balloon thing you get access to and EV train your bunnleby’s attack. It’s practically a necessity.

My final moveset when I finished the run was EQ, power up punch, return, and stone edge. I swapped between bulk up and power punch depending on the battle and before I had access to the stone edge rn I was using bounce.

That’s about it good luck if you try it.)
