A lot of players know about IV-Floors of various encounters. like a raid/task reward encounter has 10ivs in each stat minimum. A Lucky Pokemon will have 12ivs minimum, weather boosted have 4iv floor.
But did you know that traded pokemon have hidden iv floors too? like every pokemon traded by a best friend has min 5ivs in all stats and similarly min 3,2,1 for ultra, great, good friends.
Apparently this is a well known fact but when i searched in the sub for last few years no one talked about it explicitly like the other common knowlege hidden iv floors.
And if you ask how i came to know about this, my friend (best friend in game) and i mirror traded around 64 shieldons and 20 marills to get some pvp ivs and guess what, every single one of them had min 5ivs in attack. that made me search for the iv floors for trading and came across this fact.
I wish i knew this before and I wish these things could be found under in-game bonuses.

I knew that but you are right, never heard someone talking about it. Thanks for your post!
I hate, HATE the new stat animation.
Yeah people would try to trade with new friends to get I think one of the Regis or Cresselia caught from a raid below 1500CP for PVP. Wasn’t possible to get once you hit a certain level of friendship.
You can still usually get a pretty good PVP stack even with best friends. Typically a 5/13-15/13-15 is usually pretty highly ranked. Having a higher attack will also help you win out on some tiebreakers to get your charged attack in first as well. I mirror trade with my son all the time and we have some pretty good PVP mons. We aren’t playing in tournaments so the actual IV’s aren’t going to matter as much. You likely aren’t going to lose any matches because you have the #233 best Bastiodon IV’s (5/15/15) and much more likely to lose because bad matchup or bad timing/strategy.
Another thing is weather boosted also raises the IV floor, so if you’re searching for PvP IVs weather boost works against you. This makes Com Days interesting because if your goal is PvP the whole event can be spoiled.
I wish they would add the ability to turn off the IV floor for trades if you wanted. So if I wanted no floor I could just tell the game and if my friend wanted higher potential IVs they could get that on the same trade. Also having some attack on certain mons like Medicham, or on a mon that likes to win cmp ties like cradily is not a bad thing.
Dang, so a best friend will never give me highest PVP rankings?
Yeah, I think we should also be able to have unlucky trades
I don’t really understand. So what, if your trade gives you a 2 attack mon, the “hidden” number is 5, so the “actual” attack IV is 2+5=7?
Very explanatory
Never heard of this.. I play Pokémon GO since 23 and I have never heard of it this first time where do you find that?
This is part of why some folks collect 0IV pokemon, they are quite a bit rarer than 100s due to IV floors and generally are wild catch
Is the IV floor for forever frinds trades still 5?
I still think the bars are some of the worst UX design I have ever seen
I have friends who look for new people to trade for this very reason. They want to IV floor to be lower. For PvP trades.
I know of it but I couldn’t tel you what the floors are
Appreciate you for pointing this out for newer players
