Jan 1, 1970 is the unix epoch. I bet Pogo uses a unix timestamp to calculate time in a gym by just taking the difference in seconds between current timestamp and when the mon was placed in the gym, and somehow the placement timestamp either got corrupted, set to 0, or maybe they use a default value of zero when they can’t fetch the mon’s placement timestamp within a certain amount of time.

Oricorio and the gym got too close to the gargantua blackhole and experienced time dilation. Only Dialga can fix this.
56 years in a gym, and it’ll still only have managed to scrounge together 50 coins.
