Larvitar community day is for 3 hrs and there is a way to catch more with this jedi trick (skip catch animation to save crucial seconds) I have used this method on the past events to yield more catches than the normal way of watching the ball shake 3 times.
1. Require’s two hands
2. On the catch screen, swipe from right to left and keep your thumb on the screen, then the next thumb to throw
3. When you catch it, then tap the screen, then top left screen to exit
