Gen 4 Dark-type Pokemon may power creep on Tyranitar! Research that is currently underway by the GamePress team suggests that Honchkrow and Weavile both have the potential to outpace Tyranitar’s DPS. Wanting to see this in practice I ran some predictive simulations of these Pokemon against a Confusion + Shadow Ball Mewtwo raid using GoBattleSim. The results indicate that they have more potential to creep on TTar than Absol or Houdoom ever did, but Tyranitar still stands above them. However, the Mythical/Legendary Pokemon Darkrai may take over the “best Dark-type” throne if given the right moves. Tyranitar be wary!
Since I was on the topic of Mewtwo raids, I also ran some simulations on Yanmega and Mismagius against the Focus Blast set. It appears Yanmega is on track to become the best Bug-type in Pokemon GO (if given good moves). Mismagius on the other hand will get good but not great.
