As always, sleep strategy works for any Legendary Arena, including this new Azelf’s Challenge.
The idea is to prevent Azelf from using its Sync Move. I would describe Azelf as a glass cannon that relies on barriers for defense. It packs a punch, especially for Sync Moves, but can be defeated very easily without the help of barriers.
