Johto Champion Stadium is back for it’s second week in Pokemon Masters EX with Master Mode and it is… BRUTAL.
I’ve been trying for days to get to 7500 points to claim all the rewards and it hasn’t been easy. Not at all happy with how these battles went. I’ve tried all sorts of combos for each battle, swapping sync pairs and re-organize sync grids to get to the end and I barely made it, more “luck” than “skill”. I have some farming to do to strengthen my team, or else next week’s gonna be another rough week…

0:08 Bruno – Use status conditions
I totally messed this up by forgetting about the existing special parameter. So I did not bring anyone with status moves to this battle. Zacian being at 6 Star EX really gives a huge edge. Dusknoir for the crit chance and Comfey is a champ at taking hits and healing it back.
3:50 Will – Use sync moves quickly
The idea is simple, Delphox puts opponents to sleep and traps them, Houndoom sweeps and Serperior tanks. Execution not as simple… If only I had the “use status conditions” parameter here…
7:41 Koga – Dont let your sync pairs faint
This match I really got lucky with 3 consecutive misses from the opponents in the end. The plan is to poison them all with Venusaur so that Togekiss can deal some decent sync move damage while Pidgeot hurricanes. Didn’t turn out as planned. Lucky to get lucky.
12:10 Karen – Use powerful moves
Masquerain really shines through. Traps and lowers sp atk, can boost it’s own Sp Def and self-regen and has First Aid 4. I put Masquerain as the tank here so that Ribombee isn’t pressured into using leech life every turn and has the freedom to cast her buffs. Golisopod is too squishy, I had to tune the master mode conditions so that it doesn’t die on the opponent’s sync. I had just enough damage to KO Umbreon before the second sync move which would’ve ended the battle badly for me…
16:57 Champion Battle – Use physical shield + use powerful moves quickly
I saved Blastoise for this battle and honestly, this is the easiest battle. Thanks to Blastoise. Haxorus has Unhindered so that I can earn a free 100 Master Mode points from Physical and Special Shield conditions. Starmie and Blastoise buffs up defenses from both fronts and push Haxorus to chip away at the enemy’s health. Not dealing critical hits consistently really is a huge disadvantage and I dont have Altaria to circumvent that…

But I still got the 7500 points. Very challenging and fun content but I really gotta buff the team up. Let’s see what’s in-store for us next week…
