The mystery of “the unknown voice actor” that voiced Wario in American Nintendo commercials from 1992-1995

Today Charles Martinet is best-known as the voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. However, before Martinet’s first performance as Wario was heard for the western release of Mario Kart 64 in 1997. There was an unknown or uncredited voice actor that only voiced Wario in a series of animated commercials exclusive to the American market.

Around the same period, the late Chikao Ohtsuka was chosen to voice Wario in Japanese ads from 1993 till 2008. There was an unknown voice actor that was brought in to voice Wario beginning with [“Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZm5cXRShO4) (best known for spawning the line [“Obey Wario, Destroy Mario!” meme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfYhLi7SqIA)).

The same voice actor was brought back to voice Wario in a few more animated commercials such as [“Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oFczADqrGU), [“Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wesUROlPW8Q), and finally [“Virtual Boy Wario Land” in 1995 which was his last performance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYkpbMTt_Xc).

To this day, I’m curious on the identity of the mysterious voice actor for Wario between 1992-1995 because he sounded like he had a blast voicing him during that period.

If we’re able to discover the person (Dale Johnaess) who voiced the Wario Animatronic (aka “Jersey Wario”). Then hopefully somebody might know who voiced Wario in these commericals. Heck, I’m curious who animated these ads during that period because of how smoothly animated Wario is.
