0:00 – EX Bianca / Lillie / EX Kiawe
5:35 – Burgh / Oak / EX Ingo
Unfortuitous is a fun way of countering Latias’s Fluid Fortification. Since the debuffs are random and the fight lasts long, you have an almost guaranteed chance of racking up so many debuffs over the course of the match that none of Latias’s self-buffs could ever make up for it. There are currently five units in the game with Unfortuitous as a passive or sync grid tile, and I brought them all for this showcase!
Here’s how both clears went, and the sync grids used:
Team 1: EX Bianca / Lillie / EX Kiawe – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10118000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFExQXGBkaHB4gJiks&s1=3&id2=10102000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBggKDRAbHB4hIg==&s2=5&id3=10149000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFERQVGBocHyImKCkq&s3=3
I’ve used Bianca and Kiawe in a lot of my videos, but I’ve never gotten their respective Unfortuitous tiles until now (well, I also used Kiawe’s Unfortuitous 4 tile in my previous Latias LA video, but you get the idea haha). While their Unfortuitous passives aren’t guaranteed, they pair well with Bianca’s Psychic and Kiawe’s Shadow Bone, giving them a chance of lowering two stats with one move. Lillie rounds out the team with her accuracy buffs, guaranteed AOE debuffs, and Synchro Healing. She’s one of the best answers to this stage, and she even deals a lot of damage thanks to her super-effective damage and grid multipliers.
This was a lot easier than the second clear, as all three units were reasonably bulky. They also all have some form of sustain (Kiawe’s Potions, Lillie’s Synchro Healing, and Bianca’s Weird Recovery), plus I got Team Hit and Heal 9 from Bianca’s grid for the regen.
Team 2: Burgh / Oak / EX Ingo – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10137000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBgsNDhsdHyEiIyYn&s1=5&id2=10170000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgkMDQ4PFxgfICEiIy8=&s2=5&id3=10108000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggRFBUWGCUnKi0=&s3=3
Lillie was originally in this team instead of Burgh so that I could have the two AOE Unfortuitous 9 units together. But then I realized that Oak’s Swift never misses, so I had a reliable way of countering Latias’s evasion buffs in the latter bars. Burgh joins him with his own Unfortuitous 9 on Silver Wind. I first found it frustrating that it wasn’t paired with Bug Buzz, which would’ve been great as it would debuff two stats at once, but then I ended up appreciating Silver Wind’s omnibuffs and lower gauge cost. Since there isn’t a sixth Unfortuitous unit yet, I went with a crit buffer that also lowers stats. Cobalion and Event Bugsy were both good picks, but I ended up going for Ingo since he was the bulkiest, and he had Potions as well.
There were several attempts before this clear where Burgh would be KOed by Latias’s Earthquake in the third bar. That’s a sure crit move so his defense buffs wouldn’t matter, so I needed to have a Potion to heal Burgh up before this move. Aside from the lucky Potion MPRs, what made this run different from the others was how I was much more consistent with getting free turns. I KOed the sides right before they used a move, and I would sneak in extra turns before Latias would go to 50% health or switch HP bars.
