0:00 – Silver / EX Summer Marnie / Hop
4:22 – EX Brendan / EX Gladion / EX SS Blue
Regirock is one of the more annoying Legendary Arenas to deal with, since a lot of his gimmicks have so few counterplays. Unlike Vigilance and similar passives, the only answers to crit shield is to Defog it (which is only available to two units) or to wait it out (which is easier said than done considering Regirock’s moves). And with all stat reductions being off the table apart from the -1 Defense for every crit, tanking Regirock’s moves is even harder.
Well, these six rivals have something to say about that. Here’s how both clears went, and the sync grids used:
Team 1: Silver / EX Summer Marnie / Hop – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10245400000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFERMdHyAiIyUmJygpKg==&s1=3&id2=10133000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICgsNDg8fICEj&s2=5&id3=10244000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDRAaHB8iJCYpKw==&s3=5
The first Regirock run was released around the same time as Gloria, so her rival is sure to be a good pick. Hop’s a great tank for this stage, as he also doubles as a respectable damage-dealer in the second and third bars even without crit. I picked Silver for Solar Beam, but since that was only needed for the first bar, he spent the rest of the stage spamming Sacred Fire and spreading burn. Summer Marnie is one of the few rivals who can ignore Regirock’s debuffs thanks to Impervious, so she’s free to spam her moves. Her defense buffs and self-regen also come in handy here, as that means Hop only needs to heal up Silver and himself.
Team 2: EX Brendan / EX Gladion / EX SS Blue – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10119000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBgcJDA8QFRgZIyUpLA==&s1=5&id2=10019000000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgkKCw0RFBcYGRsfIQ==&s2=5&id3=10021010000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBhITFiYnKSotMzQ1&s3=3
Brendan lets me get in a few more turns without crit shield thanks to his sync nuke, and his Dauntless lucky skill means he can ignore Regirock’s debuffs too. It won’t protect him from the attack debuffs, but he won’t be using physical moves beyond the first bar anyway – the second and third bars are for Gladion, who has Headstrong in his grid. I’m actually impressed with Gladion’s sync damage even with the crit shield, but of course that means Gladion’s sync didn’t crit when the shield wore off hahaha. SS Blue is of course the best tank in the game, and while SC Jasmine’s getting the spotlight nowadays, I do think they occupy different niches. And in any case, two powerful EX supports is better than one!
