I wish they did it again in the new smash games… I wonder why they don’t see it as an opportunity to increase fan engagement and love towards the franchises. It’s just irreplaceably one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had.
Do you also feel that way?
I saw in an interview for smash 4 that the [cutscenes were decided against](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.destructoid.com/smash-bros-lacks-cutscenes-because-theyll-end-up-online/amp/) because many people watched them online… but the fan reaction to the cutscenes on reddit threads is evidently so good? Personally I both played the game and watched it on youtube, because watching it consecutively like a movie was such a good experience! An actual hour of cutscenes and I loved it! That can tell you a lot about how epic they really were.
When it was announced, fans were [disappointed](https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1j0zks/story_mode_being_cut_from_ssb4_because_brawl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), fans expressed disappointment again with the limited cutscenes in the latest Smash ([here](https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/9zyqr7/according_to_pushdustin_world_of_light_cutscenes/). [Most fans](https://www.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/8sepzg/what_was_everybodys_opinion_on_the_subspace/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) seem to share my feelings about it.
Smash made me purchase some games and get familiar with all the franchises. I bet cutscenes could peak people’s interests in games and boost sales as well. Seeing all the characters’ universes, and their powers complimenting each other and supporting each other… it’s too good. Their unique personalities came through really well. Because they’re each in the game because of how well established and iconic they are already on their own. It’s like a team play anime but the character roster is already op.
