LACUNA: Sci Fi Noir appreciation post! Any other branching-dialogue games like this out there?

Not sure how many of y’all have played LACUNA but I could not put this game down!! I had no expectations and bought it because it was cheap on the eShop, but I was so hooked & I don’t know why it doesn’t have more attention on it. I genuinely felt so bummed when it was over, although it’s been great for replay to fix the mistakes i made the first time..

I’ve been trying to find more games with a similar vibe and having no luck so far. I’m not a huge gamer, but really like the decision-based detective/mystery storylines (non combat) but on top of that there are just so many unique things that made this game great:

* branching dialogue & being stuck with committing to your decisions
* the lack of constant / over the top dialogue (only certain parts are narrated)
* really nice background music (i tried Paradise Killer but the music/vibe was waaay too OTT for me)
* 2D pixel game world that’s beautifully created, with sooo many little details! I know it’s supposed to be a sci-fi dystopia but I kind of want to live in this game, lol
* the ‘clue searching’ avoided the issue that lots of point-and-click Switch games have with really clunky hover mechanics, where it’s just a bad mimic of PC drag and drop with a cursor
* the problem solving **actually** has some challenge to it – you really need to read info and stop and think about the decisions you want to make + potential consequences. maybe some people would find it boring but i thought it made the game so immersive!

If anyone has played this game and can recommend something similar (or even games that have the above qualities) I would love to get suggestions on what to play next!
