Cresselia’s Legendary Arena is by far my least favorite, as there are so many gimmicks you have to keep in mind that limits team-building way too much. When she’s part of a Legendary Gauntlet, I’ll probably just aim for a Win Streak of 20 before I throw in the towel.
I also don’t have the nicest opinion of Cresselia considering how she made a certain fight in PMD Explorers much harder than it should’ve been hahaha. Well, here are three exploration teams that want to show her how it’s done.
The “exploration team” theme restricts me into using two of the starters (including their evolutions) in PMD Explorers – and, being PMD, they can’t share the same type – plus one extra Pokemon that’s available in those games (so anyone in Gens 1-4). This made finding usable teams a lot harder since it locks me out of several units that would’ve been helpful for the battle.
In any case, I did find three exploration teams that want to give Cresselia a piece of their mind. Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:
Team 1: EX Grovyle / EX Eevee / Houndoom – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10062000000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBhEUJSYnKCkqKywt&s1=5&id2=10019000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgcKCwwNEBEUFxgZHyE=&s2=5&id3=10017000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFGhwfISImKSssLg==&s3=5
Definitely the easiest clear here, as Eevee has almost everything needed for Cresselia’s gimmicks – omnibuffs to counteract Double Team and Calm Mind, Potion Friend Mend 9 for Cresselia’s status, and flinches to buy free turns. Grovyle appreciates all of that setup, and he’s one of the few strikers who can deal both physical and special damage. Houndoom brings flinches, Sp Atk debuffs, and super-effective damage to complete the team.
Team 2: EX Aerodactyl / Vaporeon / Venusaur – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10017100000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhQVFhcdICMkJw==&s1=3&id2=10021800000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFBgkKCwwNDxEUHB0gJQ==&s2=3&id3=10110100000&e3=6&o3=678&g3=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFRobHB0jJCUmJyg=&s3=1
I got Vaporeon in my Flygon pulls, and I knew I was gonna use her as Haze makes dealing with Cresselia a lot easier. I paired her with Venusaur, whose debuffs and heals help out the team. Aerodactyl is a great striker for this stage as he has high-powered physical and special moves. Gauge was a huge issue here thanks to the paralysis, so this took a lot more tries than the previous one to get the timing right (and to get some lucky Combo Freebie procs and paralysis-free moves).
Team 3: EX Charizard / EX Blastoise / EX Sableye – https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10095400000&e1=1&o1=738&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQsMDRESFRocHh8gISYp&s1=2&id2=10000000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBgcIERQWFxgaHB0fICIk&s2=4&id3=10021010000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggTFBYmKTEyMzQ1&s3=3
This took way more attempts than I want to admit, as it also involved shuffling around possible team members. Charizard’s Piercing Gaze means I don’t have to worry about Double Team, but his damage is severely nerfed at the start. Sableye wears a lot of hats here, but her Feint Attack having perfect accuracy meant that she could deal reliable physical damage in the first bar. Her Synchro Healing was also very important in keeping the team healthy, and her trainer move’s condition nullification effect protected the team from Cresselia’s status. Blastoise completes the team with his overall tankiness, team endurance, and move gauge acceleration.
